Hi AYSO 1315 Soccer Family,
I know you hear from me every week in our newsletter, however, I hope you'll take a few minutes to read this more personal email.
This fall is my 6th season as Regional Commissioner. When I began as Registrar in fall 2021 we were just recovering from COVID, we had 166 players in our program and we played all of our games on one night at Mountain's Edge Park. When our previous RC, Rick Neidermeyer, had to step away from the region, I stepped forward to take his place.
I chose to be the Regional Commissioner because I believe in what AYSO has to offer our kids and our families in this community. We need a safe place where kids can get exercise, learn about leadership and teamwork, create friendships and where they get to work hard and have fun. As adults, we also need an opportunity to step out of our bubble and the struggles of daily life to mentor children and community members and be a part of something bigger than ourselves.
Being in this role has had its challenges but it has also been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. My whole family has loved being a part of this soccer family!
My term as Regional Commissioner has come to an end and I have decided to step down and let another take the lead. This fall season we have 481 players, 205 volunteers and 25 board members - what an amazing soccer community we have built!
My Assistant Commissioner, Katie Bowen will also be stepping down - I want to thank her and her family for the countless hours they have spent supporting the region. They have spent more time at the fields then anyone I know and I couldn't have done the last 3 years without Katie!
I also want to thank our numerous board members throughout my term. Being a part of this team has been a blast - we've all learned to take a part of the pie and work together for the betterment of the kids!
Lastly, I want to thank all of the players, families and community members for volunteering, donating money and time and giving us the benefit of the doubt when changes or tough decisions have been made. You are the best!
We will be accepting nominations for the open Regional Commissioner position from now until November 10th. There are no pre-requirements to become the RC. Even though I am stepping down, my family will still be participating in the region and I will remain on the board. My hope is that our soccer family will be just as supportive of the next RC as you have been for me!
